LA TEJITA
La Tejita is fickle spot that breaks on the other side of Montaña Roja. It needs a certain swell direction which only happens a few times in the year, normally during Spring and Summer. Swells travel all the way up from the Southern Ocean until they arrive in this little corner of the Canary Islands. This particular time was beyond epic, being the most perfect day I’ve witnessed there. This photo landed on the cover of a Surfing mag travel issue a few years ago and still remains one of my favorite photos ever.
A médano is a type of sand dune. My hometown is called ‘El Médano’ because it was all sand around back in the day. Nowadays there is more concrete than sand, but the place itself remains a quiet and charming seaside town.
